The top award winners in the major
award categories were the following: 1. One Logan County 4-H
member was selected to receive the highest honor in a 4-H'er's
career. Because of his outstanding 4-H career and excellent job with
4-H records, this individual was chosen as an Illinois delegate to
the 2005 National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 25-29. Andrew
Fulton of Lincoln received this honor for his achievements in animal
science.
2. The 4-H Key Award is the highest award given. The
qualifications are to be 16 years of age, have a minimum of three
years of 4-H membership, submit a 4-H story and meet nine other
requirements as verified by club leaders. This year's winner is
Andrew Fulton.
3. Some 4-H'ers are chosen each year in special award categories.
Books are presented to 4-H'ers with outstanding work, quantity,
quality, years, citizenship, leadership, participation, skill
acquisition and growth. The books are given in three age groups:
8-10, 11-13 and 14-19. Blue awards are given to 4-H'ers deserving of
repeat recognition in a category. For the 14-19 age group, the medal
awards are nationally sponsored and may be received only once in
each curriculum area.
