The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen
center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except
holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday
and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive
director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens,
regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a
bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and

Oasis potluck and bingo Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for
the monthly potluck lunch, featuring chili, salads, special dishes
and wonderful desserts. Bring a dish to pass or a $3 donation. There
will be a lunch drawing and other surprises.
Stay for bingo, sponsored by the Christian Village, beginning at
1 p.m. Lots of prizes. Bring a friend.
Board meeting is open to public
The Oasis board meets Thursday at 5 p.m., and the meeting is open
to the public. To schedule any agenda times, the board must receive
notification in writing on or before the fifth day of the month
prior to a meeting date.
Friday night card players
The Friday night potluck for card players, originally scheduled
for Oct. 14, has been rescheduled to Oct. 21.
Book club
Come join the Oasis Book Club. Rekindle the rewards of reading a
book by either sharing your thoughts with the group or just sitting
back and listening to others. The group will meet Monday at 1 p.m.
Coffee and tea will be provided. Bring a friend and enjoy reading.
October birthday party
Birthday time! Monday at 1:30 p.m. it's time to celebrate your
October birthday with us. There will be games, prizes,
entertainment, and cake and ice cream. Come join the fun and bring a
friend!
Tuesday lunch
The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Oct. 18 will feature beef stew with
cheddar biscuits, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if
you stay and play cards. Ticket deadline is Monday.
Think tank
Seniors are invited to join us Oct. 19 for information on the new
federal prescription drug program. There will be discussion,
question and answers with Darlene Freeman, volunteer specialist in
Medicare Part D.

Coming in 2006: Alaskan cruise The Oasis is teaming up with
Town & Country Travel to offer a cruise with an inland tour package
to see the wonders and beauty of Alaska. The senior center has
scheduled an information meeting for 6 p.m. Monday. If you are
interested in the Alaskan cruise and would like to know more
information please call 732-6132 to reserve a space at the meeting.

Irene Tumilty and Joann Eckert were weekend pinochle winners for
Friday and Sunday night. Eleanor Barton and Joann Eckert were
weekday pinochle winners.
