Elks host second Abe Lincoln Disabled Children Fundraiser          Send a link to a friend

[SEPT. 8, 2005]  The Lincoln Elks are hosting their second crippled children's fundraiser event this Saturday. The Abe Lincoln Disabled Children Fundraiser begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until midnight. Most of the day's activities will once again be based out of downtown Lincoln, from behind Character's Pub.

The funds raised by this event normally stay in Lincoln for Lincoln's disabled children. But this year Charitable Trust Lodge 914 determined the money should go to the relief of children affected by Hurricane Katrina.

New this year to the fundraiser will be a golf outing.

And once again there will be food, lots of food: Roger Bay's concessions; hot wings from Hooters; the football boosters will be back with pork-chop sandwiches; and Joe's Pizza will be there as well. Coca-Cola has signed on as the "official soft drink."

A marble run will be offered again this year. A grand sight is in store as 200-300 motorcycles are anticipated for the day.

Other highlights include a 50-50 drawing, a larger area for food and a bigger car show, which motorcycles will be allowed to enter.

Bands will play on a state-of-the-art stage with professional sound and lighting. Greg Glick will be there with blues and jazz, and back by popular demand, the Jane Doe Band will perform rock.
