Lewis Memorial Christian Village -- The
caring hearts of residents of LMCV Independent Living were touched
by the hours of television news coverage of Katrina's devastation.
Like many other Christians around the world, they knew they had to
help. They quickly organized a committee of residents and on
Tuesday, September 13 held a "Katrina Relief Day" on our campus
raising $1,471.

The next day they went shopping "Big Time" with images of suffering
babies on their hearts; diapers, baby wipes, formula, and baby food
on their shopping list. Besides these baby supplies, one woman hand
crocheted nine babies layette and afghan sets to be added to the
gifts of love.
The committee had asked First Assembly of God of Springfield to add
their supplies to their semi-trailer that is leaving this Saturday.
A minister and a member of the church joined the women on the $1,471
shopping spree and took it all to be loaded for its mission of
mercy.
Happiness and joy are overwhelming here at Lewis; we have been
blessed by sharing. May God bless these gifts of love.
Local TV-20 News heard about the massive shopping spree of these
senior saints and has decided to come to LMCV campus Friday, Sept.
16 at noon to tape a news story. We are assuming it will be aired at
6 & 10 on Friday.
