[SEPT. 28, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Breakfast bingo

Christian Homes and The Oasis will sponsor the breakfast bingo on Thursday at The Oasis. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The menu is biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, fruit cup, and juice and coffee. Come join the fun and win a prize!

Meeters and Greeters

The Meeters and Greeters group will meet Monday at 2 p.m. This group of volunteers makes visits once a month to those who cannot get out, to add a bright spot in their life.

Rules of the Road

The secretary of state's office continues to offer a Rules of the Road course, scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. The course is designed to help you become a better a safer driver and to assist individuals who may have to take a written exam or behind-the-wheel test. No reservations necessary.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Oct. 4 will feature barbecued pork, potato salad, green beans, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Ticket deadline is Monday.

Hearing screening

Free hearing checks will be available at the senior center Oct. 5 between 10 a.m. and noon. Call 735-6132 for an appointment.

Winners for the week announced

Tom Garrison was the weekend pinochle winner for Friday and Sunday night. Mable Hoagland was the weekday pinochle winner. The winners for five-in-one were Dorothy Oltmanns and Joann Eckert.
