Bowers said that the Illinois Women's Golf Association is
responsible for selecting the women who represent Illinois. She
credits the association for establishing a point system for various
tournaments throughout Illinois.
"My success in the Illinois State
Women's Amateur Tournament over the past several years has provided
me with this opportunity," she said. "It is quite an honor to be
selected to represent the state of Illinois. The caliber of players
that will be at this tournament is unbelievable. Most of them have
competed nationally and/or internationally at the amateur level."
Bowers first competed in this tournament in 2003, when it was in
Boston.
