The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen
center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except
holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday
and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive
director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens,
regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a
bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and

Extension to sponsor bingo Logan County Extension will
sponsor the bingo games that begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Oasis.
Come join the fun and win food prizes.
Alzheimer support group to meet
The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in The
Oasis library. No reservation is necessary. The group provides
support and information for caregivers and extended family. A
coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre facilitates the group.
Board meeting is open to public
The Oasis board meeting is open to the public and is scheduled to
begin at 6 p.m. Thursday. To schedule any agenda items, the board
must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth day of
the month prior to a meeting date.
Veterans Administration
The VA representative will resume scheduled visits Aug. 22 at The
Oasis and return every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment
necessary. Service is on a first-come, first-served basis.

August birthday party
Birthday time! Come celebrate August birthdays with us at the
senior center. The birthday party begins at 1:30 p.m. Monday and is
sponsored by State Farm agent Chris Coyne. There will be games,
prizes, entertainment, and cake and ice cream. Come join the fun and
bring a guest.
Tuesday lunch
The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Aug. 22 features ham, cheesy potatoes,
green beans, bread and butter, and a dessert for only $3.75, or
$3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon
Monday.
Winners for the week announced
Eleanor Barton and Mable Hoagland were the weekday pinochle
winners for the week of July 25 and 28. The weekend pinochle winners
were Wilbur Wilmert and Doris Steffens. The five-in-one winners were
Betty Burger and Tom Garrison. Rummy winner was Dorothy Oltmanns.
