"On behalf of Governor Blagojevich, I'm excited to announce a little
more than $1.3 million for various state projects in southern
Illinois," said Grimes. "Approximately $150,000 of that funding will
be used to create a Historic Structures Report for the Crenshaw
House." The report will be plan describing and prioritizing
restoration work necessary for the Crenshaw House. Initial work will
focus on making the building weather-tight, which may include roof
repair or replacement, restoring windows, siding, and weather seals.
"The Historic Structures Report is a vital first step toward
rehabilitating the Crenshaw House," said Robert Coomer, director of
the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, which administers the
site. "It will guide us as we move toward making the site and its
history accessible to visitors."
Grimes also announced that $615,000 will be available for roof
replacement at the state's Marion Regional Office Building, and
$547,000 will replace a generator at Choate Mental Health Center in
Anna.

"Improving local tourism and increasing funding for vital human
services are important to the future of southern Illinois and its
residents, which is why I have advocated so strongly for additional
state assistance in these areas," said state Rep. Brandon Phelps.
"This funding will help us address critical needs and attract more
visitors to our region. I would like to thank Governor Blagojevich
for awarding this funding."
The Capital Development Board manages the construction, repair
and renovation of state facilities across Illinois, including
colleges and universities, mental health facilities, veterans homes,
and historic buildings. Capital Development Board projects include
the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, the new State
Emergency Operations Center, and the World Shooting and Recreational
Complex in Sparta.
