Logan County 4-H members participate in state judging contests          Send a link to a friend

[JULY 10, 2006]  Two Logan County 4-H members recently participated in state 4-H judging contests at the University of Illinois.

A total of 378 4-H'ers from 53 counties judged classes of livestock, poultry, meats, horses and dairy cattle, according to Donna Butler, University of Illinois Extension assistant. Contest participants received blue, red or white ratings for their judging performance.

Andrew Lindgren, Atlanta, participated in the Livestock Judging Contest and received a blue rating. He placed 16th out of 120 participants. The livestock judging featured classes of swine, beef and sheep.

Kristin Bishop, also from Atlanta, participated in the Horticulture Judging Contest and received a red rating. Seventeen 4-H'ers from nine counties participated in the horticulture judging. The contestants placed four classes of fruits, vegetables, flowers or shrubs, and also identified up to 180 specimens of vegetables, flowers, fruits, nuts, indoor plants, ornamentals, seeds, bulbs and herbs.
