[JULY 26, 2006]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Light lunch bingo

St. Clara's Manor will sponsor "light lunch bingo" on Thursday. Lunch is at noon at The Oasis and bingo will follow at 1 p.m. Come join the fun and win a prize!

SHARE food coming Friday

The Self Help and Resource Exchange is a food cooperative sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria that offers food at reduced prices. July orders will be available for pickup Friday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. People interested can also stop by the senior center for more information about the program, which is open to everyone, regardless of age, faith and income.

Oasis belles to meet

The Oasis Red Hat group will meet Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. Please call 732-6132 to make a lunch reservation by noon Monday. Put on your red hat and come join this lively bunch of ladies!

VA services

The representative from the Veterans Administration will not provide local services Aug. 1 and 8 but will return Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Service is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hearing screening

The Oasis will have free hearing checks Aug. 2 between 10 a.m. and noon. To schedule an appointment, please call 732-6132.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Aug. 1 features chicken cacciatore, pasta, garlic bread, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is 4 p.m. Monday.
