Elkhart's 'Open Doors Weekend,' June 10 and 11

[JUNE 6, 2006]  ELKHART -- The central Illinois community of Elkhart is welcoming people to visit the village Saturday and Sunday for an "Open Doors Weekend."

Prairie Pointe and Elkhart Hill Estates subdivisions have 25 lots available and special incentives. Several privately owned homes are also for sale. Town & Country Bank and Illini Bank will be on hand for pre-approval.

Events:

• Farmers' market -- Saturday, 8 a.m.-noon

• Book and bake sale at the Elkhart Public Library -- Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

• Professional kite flyers at Prairie Pointe -- Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Art exhibition at the Dragonfly Art Studio -- Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Open house at Horsefeathers -- Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Under the Prairie Museum -- open Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Lucky draw gift basket -- Gillett Chapel

• 100 classic cars on Route 66 -- drive through Saturday afternoon

• Special Sunday dinner buffet at The Talk of the Town Blue Stem Bakery -- open Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Blue Moon pub -- Open Saturday and Sunday
