MORTON -- Alice M. Newell, 82, of Morton, formerly of
Chestnut, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at 6:10 a.m. at Morton
Terrace Nursing Home.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at McGee
Chapel Cemetery, Glen Allen, Mo. Pastor Timothy Butler will
officiate.

| There is no visitation. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski is
handling arrangements.
Mrs. Newell had worked on the assembly line at Pierce
Glass in Lincoln.
She was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Pumpkin Center, Ky., to
James Harrison and Stena Watson Gill. She married Charles
Newell in Benton, Mo., on Sept. 13, 1941. He preceded her in
death.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Stauffer of
Chestnut and Glenda (and Russell) Bell of Lincoln; one son,
Eldon Newell of Cabot, Ark.; two brothers, Willard Gill of
Boron, Calif., and Tom (and Elise) Gill of Clarksville,
Tenn.; one sister, Bessie Kooce of Blytheville, Ark.; 10
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and
Neville Gill; one grandson, Troy; and a son-in-law, James
Stauffer.
Memorials may be made to Morton Terrace Nursing Home or
Harbor Light Hospice.
