[JUNE 22, 2006]  CHICAGO -- Forty-five 4-H'ers from the West Central Region of University of Illinois Extension attended a study trip to Chicago on June 9 and 10. The focus of the trip was to explore ways people communicate and possible career choices.

Participants from Logan County were (left to right) Ashley Paulus, Jessica Howerton, Ryan Huffer, Holly Klockenga, Chase Farmer and Corey Jones.

"I had a great time and made new friends," and "I liked making new friends and seeing everything," were comments from the participants.

The 4-H'ers' first stop was the Rainforest Cafe, where they participated in a behind-the-scenes tour to see all the jobs involved in operating a restaurant and then enjoyed a lunch of food with exotic titles.

Chicago's famed Navy Pier offered many unique sights and sounds for the participants, including a 30-minute boat tour that highlighted the city's magnificent skyline.

Later in the evening, participants got a chance to laugh and interact with performers at ComedySportz, where they claim that comedy is a sport. The performance was based on suggestions from the audience.

Museums were on the agenda for the second day of the trip. Participants went to the John G. Shedd Aquarium and the Museum of Science and Industry. The exhibits were informative and captivating. The trip concluded with an Omnimax Theater show called "Wired to Win."
