Fire damages Tremont Street home          Send a link to a friend

[MARCH 7, 2006]  Firefighters were called to the home of Mildred Holland at 230 Tremont on Thursday at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Painters were stripping balusters on a stairwell when steel wool rubbed over an outlet, causing a spark that ignited fumes from a nearby can.

The fire was contained to the front entry, hall and porch. Smoke affected the upstairs.

Mrs. Holland was not in the home at the time of the incident.

The box alarm brought out city of Lincoln firemen, off-duty firemen and Lincoln Rural Fire Department.
