MINIER -- Would you invite a predator into your
home? You may be doing just that and not even realizing it when you
get on the computer. Stalking and hunting potential victims has
never been more convenient than it is in this online age. A free
program next week on Internet safety will provide a frightening look
into the minds of cyber predators and will cover topics such as
Internet chat rooms, MySpace accounts and e-mailing.

During the school day, the fifth- and sixth-grade students at
Olympia West Elementary School will have the opportunity to attend a
presentation by Jack Bristow, who is a law enforcement instructor at
the Livingston Area Vocational Center, Pontiac High School. He is a
former member of the Pontiac Police Department, with over 18 years
of police experience.
A seminar for adults will be presented at the Minier Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church, next to the Dairy Barn restaurant, at 6
p.m. on Nov. 21. There is no cost for the seminar, and it is open to
citizens from throughout the area. Child care will be available.
Preregistration is requested in order to prepare for snacks.
