Sen. Brady announces 44th District road improvements          Send a link to a friend

[April 21, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- The 44th District is slated to receive $13.03 million for road and bridge improvements in the coming fiscal year, according to state Sen. Bill Brady, R-Bloomington.

The 44th District senator released details of local projects included in Illinois' $1.875 billion road plan for fiscal 2008, which starts July 1, 2007 (see previous related article). The six-year plan also includes an additional $122.877 million for local roads and bridges.

"Transportation officials are calling this a maintenance budget, saying there is not funding sufficient for new construction. No mention, however, of the $1.4 billion taken from the Road Fund by the Blagojevich administration to pay the state's day-to-day bills," Brady said. "That $1.4 billion should have been spent on repairing our roads and bridges, building new roads to reduce traffic congestion, and providing road construction jobs."

Fiscal 2008 road projects for the 44th District include:

DeWitt County

  • $1,350,000 for bridge replacement on Illinois 10 at Salt Creek, four miles east of Clinton.
