[August 01, 2007]  (AP) A Canadian cold front pushing southeast through the Northern and Central Plains as well as the Upper Mississippi Valley on Wednesday was expected to produce scattered showers and severe thunderstorms in the region.

Heavy downpours with gusty high winds were possible in parts of Florida, Texas and Louisiana. Areas of flooding were also possible.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected again to develop across the Western mountains and Rockies as tropical moisture streams across the region. Damaging wind and hail were possible across parts of southeast Wyoming, northeast Colorado and western Nebraska late Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Tuesday ranged from a low of 30 degrees at Meacham, Ore., to a high of 118 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
