[August 04, 2007]  The following recalls have been announced:

- About 140,000 Basic Blindz window blinds, manufactured in China and sold in Lowe's stores, because the blinds have a pull cord that is looped, posing a strangulation hazard to children. No injuries have been reported. The recall includes the Natural Faux Wood Plantation Blinds sold under the Basic Blindz brand. - About 1,200 Raleigh Cadent bicycles with Carbonage carbon forks, manufactured by Carbonage Technology in China, because the forks can break during use, causing the rider to lose control, fall and suffer injuries. Raleigh America has received three reports of forks breaking, resulting in injuries, including a dislocated shoulder, a concussion and a broken jaw. The recall includes the 2007 Raleigh Cadent 1.0, Cadent 2.0 and Cadent Carbon bicycle models with carbon forks. - About 3,000 Thermo-Tec Hi-Heat aerosol coating cans, manufactured in the United States by Sherwin-Williams Co., because the aerosol cans can overpressurize and explode, posing a risk of injury. Sherwin-Williams has received one report of a consumer who suffered serious facial injuries, including a broken jaw, broken teeth and nose, a split lip and a shattered eye socket, when a can exploded. The recalled cans, sold from August 2005 through June 2007, include the part number 12002 printed above the UPC code and the date code B1815 written on the bottom of the can. - About 340 LED E Lights, manufactured by Plan 9 Inc. in the United States, because the circuit board in the lights can overheat, posing a risk of fire. No injuries have been reported. - About 4,700 safety relief plugs, which are used on nitrous oxide systems and HVAC service tools, because the plugs can allow pressure to build in the cylinder of an HVAC pressure testing tool or nitrous oxide system. If the cylinder is overfilled and overheated it can burst, posing a hazard to consumers. The plugs are manufactured in the United States by Rehvac Manufacturing Co., which has received one report of a cylinder that was overheated and overfilled and then burst. - About 220 stuffed horse pillows and 1,300 fairy dolls, manufactured in China and distributed by The Orvis Company, because the plastic button eyes on the stuffed horse and the pompom nose on the fairy doll can easily detach, posing a choking hazard to children. No injuries have been reported. The plush brown horse pillow was sold as an accessory with the Horse Animal Sleeping Bag, and the Fairy Doll toy was sold as an accessory with the Unicorn Animal Sleeping Bag. - 12,592 beverage containers, from Cost Plus World Market based in Oakland, Calif., because they can leach lead when they contain lemonade or other acidic beverages. No illnesses have been reported, the company said. The recall includes red, blue, green and yellow speckleware containers and as well as a glass water tank with spout. The recalled containers have the SKU numbers 370549, 391163, 378321 and 378322, and the water tank with spout has the SKU number 378251. The pitchers were sold in Cost Plus and World Market stores nationwide from May 2005 through July 2007. Details: by phone at 877-967-5362; by Web at http://www.worldmarket.com.
