The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen
center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except
holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday
and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive
director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens,
regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a
bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and

Extension unit to sponsor bingo The Logan County Extension
Unit will sponsor bingo at The Oasis on Thursday, beginning at 1
p.m. Come join the fun and win some nutritional prizes.
Alzheimer support group
The Alzheimer's support group will meet in the library at the
senior center on Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m. No reservation is
necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers
and extended family and is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple
Ridge Care Centre.
Board meeting
The Oasis board meeting for August is open to the public and is
scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Thursday. To schedule agenda items, the
board must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth
day of the month prior to a meeting date.
August birthdays
Birthday time! Come celebrate August birthdays with us at the
senior center on Monday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be games,
prizes, entertainment, and cake and ice cream. Bring a friend and
come join the fun.

Tuesday's lunch
The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Aug. 21 features chicken and rice,
vegetable, salad, dessert, and drink for $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay
and play cards. Reservation deadline is Monday noon.
Bingo at the Rec
Computer add-on "discount night" -- Buy any computer and get an
Oasis or coverall game added free with the following limits:
$12 computer, up to four Oasis or coverall games added to computer
free; $16 computer, up to seven Oasis or coverall games added to
computer free; $20 computer, up to 10 Oasis or coverall games added
to computer free. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; games begin at 6:50 p.m.
All proceeds go to the senior center to provide services and
activities for Logan County.
Winners for the week announced
Doris Steffens and Tom Garrison were the weekday pinochle
winners. Wilbur Wilmert and Mina Bradburn were the weekend winners.
