"The Du Quoin State Fair is a great destination for visitors from
throughout the state, and we encourage fairgoers to stop by and
sample the great outdoors at Conservation Village on the Du Quoin
fairgrounds," said Sam Flood, acting director of the Illinois
Department of Natural Resources. "Conservation Village will feature
lots of information on all of our programs, and activities focused
on outdoor recreation and protecting the natural wonders of our
state." Information tents at Conservation Village are located in
the center of the Du Quoin fairgrounds, on Expo Drive just south of
the Expo Hall. Conservation Village features information and
displays on the state's natural resources and programs of the
Department of Natural Resources. Staff members will be on hand to
discuss exhibits and answer questions about state wildlife,
fisheries, forestry, parks, outdoor recreation, restoration ecology,
mines and minerals, and other programs.
Conservation Village will also feature a free 3-D youth archery
tent, hosted by the Junior Olympic Archery Development program. It
will be open every weekday of the Du Quoin fair from 4 to 8 p.m. and
on the weekends and Labor Day from noon to 8 p.m.
