            [FEB. 16, 2007]
            SPRINGFIELD -- Sen. Larry Bomke,
R-Springfield, will again serve as the Republican spokesman on the
Illinois Senate Transportation Committee. Senate Republican Leader
Frank Watson, R-Greenville, announced the appointment. |

            | "Transportation is vital for the economic
development of Illinois," said Bomke. "Every aspect of our state
economy depends on having a reliable and modem transportation
system. Being minority spokesperson for the seventh year in a row
gives me a chance to bring some real experience to the table. Again
this year, I intend to oppose the diversion of precious road fund
dollars." Bomke, who has served on the committee since 2000,
looks forward to continuing his role as spokesman. The
Transportation Committee handles legislation affecting the highways,
			railways and waterways of Illinois.

Bomke will also be serving on three other Senate
Committees: Appropriations II, Financial Institutions, and State
Government and Veterans' Affairs. Appropriations II is one of three
budgetary committees. The Financial Institutions Committee deals
with the regulation of banks, credit unions, and savings and loans.
Lastly, the State Government and Veterans' Affairs committee
addresses a variety of issues related to veterans and the inner
workings of Illinois government. "I have served on all four of these Senate
committees in the past," Bomke said. "These committees are vital
because they give me the chance to hear more public opinion on
			issues."
