[February 28, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Meeters and Greeters

The Meeters and Greeters group will meet March 5 at The Oasis, beginning at 2 p.m. This group of volunteers visits once a month with those who cannot get out, adding a bright spot in their life. If you would like to participate or would like more information, call 732-6132.

Belles meet

The Oasis Red Hat group will meet March 6, beginning at 11 a.m. If you are staying for lunch, please call 732-6132 for a lunch reservation by noon Monday. Put your red hat on and come join this lively bunch of ladies!

Hearing screening

The Oasis will have free hearing checks by Joyce Dearth from the Hearing Aid Center on March 7, beginning at 10 a.m. through noon. To schedule an appointment, call the senior center at 732-6132.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for March 6 features salmon casserole with garlic bread, salad, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Winners for the week announced

Winners the week of Feb. 6 were Mina Bradburn and Helen Cart for the weekday pinochle card game. Bernie Haley was the weekday winner for the week of Feb. 13. The weekend of Feb. 9, pinochle winners were Helen Opperman and Wilbur Wilmert. The weekend of Feb. 16, winners for pinochle were Mina Bradburn and Larry VanBibber. Congratulations!
