[JAN. 22, 2007]  The Lincoln Community High School speech team showed its prowess this weekend at one of the toughest tournaments in the state. The team finished 10th of 43 teams, placing two events in the final round. The Lincoln team was led by tournament champions Tony Curcuru and Lincoln Moore in humorous duet acting; also a finalist was Janel Filbeck, fourth in oratory.

Semifinalists for LCHS were Todd Schumacher in dramatic interpretation, Hannah Snyder in extemporaneous, Lincoln Moore in original comedy, Annie Sheley in radio and Cameron Kurtz in special occasion speaking.

Next, the team will host a Saturday tournament at home.

Ed Jodlowski, one of the Lincoln coaches, said, "The weekend was very satisfying -- not only because we had two finalists or seven semifinalists, because even the kids who didn't break semifinals did very well, showing how strong our team really is this year."
