[JAN. 24, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Soup Day

The Oasis Senior Center will be serving soup on Thursday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The donation will be 50 cents per bowl.

St. Clara's Manor to sponsor bingo

St. Clara's Manor will sponsor bingo on Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m. Come join the fun and win some prizes.

Blood pressure

The Oasis offers free blood pressures checks every Friday between 10 and 11:30 a.m. No appointments necessary.

Writers to meet

The Memories class is scheduled to meet at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the library at The Oasis. Writers are invited to join this lively group to hone their writing skills. No reservation necessary. Please bring writing material.

The Self Help and Resource Exchange is a food cooperative sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria that offers food at reduced prices. January orders will be available for pickup Friday between 4 and 5:30 p.m. People can also stop by The Oasis for more information about the program, which is open to everyone, regardless of age, faith and income.

Birthday time!

The January birthday party will be Monday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be games, entertainment, prizes and, of course, ice cream and cake. Come join the fun and bring a friend!

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Jan. 30 features chicken strips, tater tots, green beans, dessert and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Winners for the week announced

Irene Tumilty and Larry VanBibber were the weekday pinochle winners, and the weekend pinochle winners were Helen Cart and Pauline Boward. Congratulations.
