[July 05, 2007]  (AP) Wet weather stretched from the Southwest to the Gulf Coast states early Thursday while rain clouds threatened from Florida into the Northeast and Midwest.

A low pressure front that has been anchored over the region for the past week or so remains stuck over eastern Texas, dousing the Southern Plains. Flooding threats were possible throughout Kansas and Missouri.

Another front parked over the Northeast was to bring another round of showers and thunderstorms to the region, especially the interior and into the Midwest.

Showers and thunderstorms also were to develop over the Southwest and Rockies.

Temperatures throughout the West were to remain warm as high pressure builds over the Great Basin. Highs throughout the interior valleys of the West could soar into the triple digits.

Warm temperatures also were expected in the central and Northern Plains, with widespread high temperatures in the lower 90s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Wednesday ranged from a low of 35 degrees at Hillsdale, Mich., to a high of 126 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
