House Appropriations Committee approves funding for area projects

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Ray
LaHood, R-Peoria, announced Friday that the U.S. House
Appropriations Committee took action last week and approved funding
for 22 local projects requested by the congressman.

The funding for these projects is contained in four separate
appropriations bills: a bill funding the departments of Commerce,
Justice and State; a bill funding the departments of Labor, and
Health and Human Services; a bill funding the departments of
Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development; and a bill
funding the Department of Energy and the Army Corps of Engineers.
The bills now move to the full House for consideration. Projects
funded in the appropriations bill for the departments of Commerce,
Justice and State:

$900,000 to the
Logan County sheriff's office. This Department of Justice
funding will help fund a countywide communication system
upgrade.

$400,000 to the
Adams County Emergency Management Agency. This Department of
Justice funding will help complete communication systems
upgrades.

$300,000 to the
Adams County sheriff's office. This Department of Justice
funding will assist with the purchase of interoperable
communications equipment.

$400,000 to the city of Springfield.
This Department of Justice funding will assist in upgrades to
communications equipment.
Projects funded in the appropriations bill for the departments of
Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.

$300,000 to
Peoria's Heartland Community Health Clinic. This Department of
Health and Human Services funding will assist in purchasing
equipment for the clinic's new facility on Wisconsin Avenue.

$250,000 to
MacMurray College in Jacksonville. This Department of Education
funding will assist with technology infrastructure upgrades on
campus.

$200,000 for
Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville. This Department of Health
and Human Services funding will assist in the construction of a
cardiopulmonary department.

$200,000 for the
University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. This
Department of Health and Human Services funding will assist with
the construction of a cancer research lab.

$200,000 for Bel-Wood
Nursing Home in Peoria. This Department of Health and Human
Services funding will be used for facility improvements.

$100,000 to
Lincoln College in Lincoln. This Department of Education funding
will be used for the Lincoln Barat Initiative to provide new
methodology to college and high school teachers to better reach
today's students.

$225,000 to the Illinois Primary
Healthcare Association for an electronic medical records program
(request submitted in conjunction with U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson
Jr.).

Projects funded in the appropriations bill for the departments of
Transportation and Housing and Urban Development.

$250,000 to the
city of Springfield. This Department of Transportation funding
will be used for road repair and upgrades to Oak Ridge Cemetery
in advance of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial.

$100,000 to
Lakeview Museum in Peoria. This Housing and Urban Development
funding will be used for planning, design and construction of
the Peoria Riverfront Museum.

$100,000 to the
Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. This Department of
Housing and Urban Development funding will be used for planning,
construction and design.

$50,000 to Peoria
NEXT in Peoria. This Department of Housing and Urban Development
funding will be used for the continued construction of the
Innovation Center.

$500,000 to the
Decatur Park District. This Department of Transportation funding
will be used to create a safer roadway along Twin Bridge Road
south of the Decatur Airport.

$250,000 to the city of Elmwood. This
Department of Transportation funding will be used for
improvements to Morgan Street.
Projects funded in the energy and water appropriations bill.

$200,000 to
Lakeview Museum in Peoria. This Department of Energy funding
will be used for green building technologies.

$89,000 to the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a flood control project in
Meredosia.

$97,000 to the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a water control structure at
Spunky Bottoms in Brown County.
-
$600,000 to the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for studies under the Illinois 2020
program.
-
$24,464,000 to the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers for restoration of the Upper Mississippi River.
