The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen
center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except
holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday
and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive
director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens,
regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a
bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and

Light lunch bingo St. Clara's Manor will sponsor the "light
lunch bingo" that will begin at noon Thursday at The Oasis. The
bingo games will start at 1 p.m. Come join the fun and win some
prizes.
Need assistance with insurance forms
The Oasis and the Senior Health Insurance Program sponsor
assistance to seniors with their insurance forms. Volunteers trained
by the Department of Insurance are available to guide you through
problems involving Medicare, Medicare supplement, long-term care
insurance, retiree health plans, claims processing and appealing
denied claims. This free service is offered every Thursday
afternoon. Call the senior center for an appointment, 732-6132.
Blood pressure checks
The Oasis offers free blood pressure checks every Friday between
10 and 11:30 a.m. No appointment necessary.
Food program pickup
The Self Help and Resource Exchange Program distribution will be
on Friday, between 4 and 5:30 p.m., at The Oasis. SHARE is an
outreach program sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria. For

Tuesday's lunch
The 11:30 a.m. lunch for July 31 features tuna stuffed tomatoes,
cheese sandwich, fruit and dessert, and drink for $3.75, or $3.25 if
you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.
Bingo at the Rec
Only 48 computers. "Win $100." Buy any size computer and be
eligible for a $100 drawing. Hold on to your pink tickets! Match the
lucky number and win $100. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; bingo and raffle
begin at 6:50 p.m. All proceeds go to the senior center to provide
services and activities for Logan County.
Winners for the week announced
Larry Van Bibber, Mable Hoagland, Eleanor Barton and Henry
Warnisher were weekday pinochle winners. Joyce Voyles, Pauline
Boward and Pauline Boward were the weekend pinochle winners. Linda
Hughes, Dorothy Oltmanns and Tom Garrison won at five-in-one. Ruth
Barry was the rummy winner. Congratulations to all!
