[March 19, 2010]  (AP) A low pressure system will remain over the Ohio Valley on Thursday, bringing  showers that could extend into Michigan and southern New England.

A front is expected to move through the northern Plains into the central Plains and upper Midwest, bringing considerable rain to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and parts of the central Rockies and cooling temperatures in the area.

Moist air from the Gulf of Mexico will likely bring showers to parts of southern Texas and other Gulf Coast states.

Parts of the Southwest and Great Basin will likely see scattered showers, with temperatures in those regions expected to rise into the 90s and 100s.

Temperatures in the central Plains and Southwest are expected to reach the 90s, while the Northeast is expected to get temperatures ranging from the 70s to the 90s.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a low of 37 degrees at Meacham, Ore., to a high of 117 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
