Talking Less, Praying More
We are often so full of our words that they tend to get us in trouble. I love the bumper sticker slogan: God, keep an arm around my shoulder and a hand over my mouth.
Thomas A. Kempis notes: “The reason why we are so willing to talk is that by discoursing together we seek comfort from one another; and we wish to ease our heart, wearied by various thoughts. And we very willingly talk and think of such things as we most love and desire, or which we imagine are contrary to us. But alas! It is often in vain and to no purpose: for this outward consolation is not small hindrance to our interior and divine consolation. Therefore we must watch and pray, lest the time pass away without fruit.
Let’s remember that our best consolation is in our God, our True Peace.

Join us this summer as we connect with new people. Dinner 8s are gatherings of 6 people (3 couples or 6 singles) who meet together three times over the summer for food and fellowship. The great part of Dinner 8s is that the host for the evening gets to invite a friend, neighbor, or new church member to be part of the group for the evening. Dinner 8s aren't Bible studies or prayer meetings. Members of Dinner 8s simply eat together with a prayer before the meal. Sign-up today at the Welcome Center.
