Cooktops, party hats recalled          Send a link to a friend

[June 08, 2007]  (AP) The following recalls have been announced:

  • About 2,000 Thermador brand ceramic cooktops, manufactured by BSH Home Appliances Corp., because the cooktop can turn on by itself when switched off. This poses a fire hazard. Owners are instructed to disconnect the cooktop at the circuit breaker and remove items from the surface when not in use. Contact the company to arrange for a free repair. Details: by phone at 800-758-1001; on the Web at http://www.thermador.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.

  • About 43,100 children's party hats, distributed by Creative Expressions, because the foil fringe glued to the hats' bottom edge can detach, which poses a choking hazard to children. No injuries have been reported. The blue paper hats have "1st" printed on the front and blue foil fringe on the bottom. The cone-shaped hats were sold nationwide at party stores and discount department stores. Consumers should discard the hats and contact Creative Expressions for a refund. Details: by phone at 800-428-5017, ext. 4102; on the Web at http://www.ceg4party.com/recall.html or http://www.cpsc.gov.
