[June 23, 2007]  (AP) A low-pressure system meandering over the Southern Plains was expected to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to Texas, Oklahoma and parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley on Saturday. Severe weather was possible in Texas.

A front moving through the Northern Plains and Great Lakes was expected to bring rain and thunderstorms from the Dakotas to Michigan. By the end of the day, the front should be close to pushing into New England, where coastal showers were forecast.

Pacific moisture was to stream into the Intermountain West, allowing scattered showers to form. Showers and thunderstorms were also possible along the Rockies.

The Southwest was expected to rise into the 90s and 100s, while parts of California were to be similarly hot. The Southeast and the Mississippi Valley could rise into the 80s and 90s. The Northeast was forecast to rise into the 70s and 80s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of 32 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 120 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
