[March 02, 2007]  The following recalls were issued Feb. 24-March 1 by various federal and state agencies.

INFLATABLE BOUNCE HOUSES CAN DEFLATE

Sportcraft Ltd. of Mt. Olive, N.J. is recalling Inflatable Bounce Houses sold nationwide from September 2006 to January 2007. The fan and the plastic housing surrounding the fan can break apart during use of the inflatable bounce house, posing a risk of impact injury to consumers.

The recall includes the following models: "Castle Kingdom," "Jump 'N' Kingdom," and "Bounce 'N' Playhouse." The bounce houses are inflated by a yellow, horizontal fan. The fan's model number, FJ4-330C or FJ4-330C2, is printed on a silver sticker on the fan's housing. Bounce houses with an "N" at the end of either model number on the fan are not included in this recall.

Consumers should contact Sportcraft at (800) 511-0675 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to receive a free replacement fan. Consumers can also visit www.sportcraft.com. More info at www.recalls.org.

WHEEL FORKS ON BMX BICYCLES COULD FAIL

Mirraco LLC of Carlsbad, Calif. is recalling Bicycles sold nationwide from November 2006 to January 2007. The front wheel forks on these bicycles could have been welded improperly. This poses a risk that the weld could fail, and the rider could lose control and fall.

The recall involves BMX bicycles. The model name is printed on the bicycle. Recalled models include the following:

  • Blend 3 - Black Pearl 3 - Fivestar Park

  • Blend 2 - Black Pearl 2 - Icon Moto

  • Blend 1 - Black Pearl 1 - Icon 20Forty

Consumers can also contact Mirraco at (888) 431-7653 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT, or visit http://www.mirrabikeco.com/recall.php. More info at www.recalls.org.

DIVE COMPUTERS CAN CAUSE DECOMPRESSION SICKNESS

Pelagic Pressure Systems, of San Leandro, Calif. is recalling Oceanic and AERIS Digital Dive Computers sold nationwide from October 2006 to February 2007. When performing a switch from one gas to another during a dive, the dive computer's display will lock up and not return to the main dive screen that displays dive times. This can cause divers to enter decompression unknowingly or the diver could ascend prematurely, resulting in decompression sickness.

The recall involves Oceanic-brand ATOM 2.0 dive computers with serial numbers 1 through 2,079 (Revisions 2E, 3A, and 3B) and AERIS-brand EPIC dive computers with serial numbers 1 through 712 (Revision 1A), which can be accessed and viewed on the computer's display. Also, the serial number and date of manufacture are printed on the bottom of the unit (Oceanic ATOM 2.0 from August 23 to November 23, 2006, and AERIS EPIC from October 18 to November 14, 2006). This recall does not include any other Oceanic or AERIS brand dive computers.

Consumers should take the dive computers to an authorized Oceanic or AERIS dealer to get a free software upgrade. Consumers can also contact Pelagic at (888) 854-4960 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/

If the battery in the laptop is struck forcefully on the corner, such as from a direct fall to the ground, the battery pack can overheat and pose a fire hazard to users.
