the application deadline for the 2007 Horace Mann-Abraham Lincoln
Fellowship Program. The new deadline for educators to apply for the

The fellowship is open to any full-time teacher teaching
kindergarten through 12th grade in the United States. Selected
teachers, one from every state, will attend on either June 24-29 or
July 8-13. The fellowship will include round-trip transportation,
lodging, most meals, and all workshops, seminars and tours.
Teachers can submit an application online via
www.horacemann.com or
www.alplm.org. The application
includes resume and the answer to two essay questions (250-word
maximum). The first essay addresses subject areas and grade levels
taught by the applicants and how they expect this experience to
benefit their students. In the second essay, teachers are asked to
explain why it is essential to understand Abraham Lincoln today.
Teachers of all subjects and grade levels are encouraged to apply.
No special or extensive knowledge of Lincoln is required.
