				Mar 
				Story Time Classes.  Lincoln Public Library District will 
				hold three different Story Time classes for 6 mon. – 2 year 
				olds, 3 & 4 year olds, and 5 –7 year olds through the months of 
				February and March. There is no charge, but registration is 
				necessary for accurate planning.  Call the Youth Services

				Craft Classes.  Lincoln Public Library District will hold 
				Craft Classes for 8 – 12 year olds on Thursdays at 3:30 through

				 Coin Show.  The Railsplitter Coin Club will be hosting 
				their Spring Coin Show on Saturday, March 3, 2007.  Admission is 
				free, and it will be held at Rusty’s Clubhouse and Grill (2810 
				Woodlawn Road, Lincoln).  Rusty’s will have their full menu 
				available.  The show begins at 9:00 AM and will end at 4:00 PM.  
				So if you’re interested in picking up some nifty coins for your 
				collection, or just finding out what makes the art of coin 
				collecting so much fun, come out to Rusty’s for the Spring Coin

				Kiwanis Club Annual Ham and Bean Dinner.  Held at the 
				American Legion Hall (1740 Fifth St., Lincoln) from 11 AM to 3

				Blood Drive.  Come give the gift of life at the Immanuel

				Hospital.

				“Art and Architecture in Illinois Libraries”.  
				The Elkhart Public Library District has been selected to host 
				the traveling exhibit “Art and Architecture in Illinois 
				Libraries” which celebrates the rich architectural and artistic 
				heritage of Illinois libraries.  This exhibit was developed 
				based on information and images collected by Eastern Illinois 
				University’s Booth Library through surveys and more than 600 
				site visits.  Using a variety of formats, the exhibit is 
				designed to appeal to audiences of all ages.  You can see the 
				exhibit at Elkhart Library from March 5 – 23.  For more

				Ham and Bean Dinner.  Join Lincoln Kiwanis for a Ham & 
				Bean Dinner. From 11am – 3pm at the American Legion. Tickets are 
				$6.50 each and include: ham & bean soup, cornbread, beverage and 
				dessert. 
				Kiwanis is a 
				global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the 
				world one child and one community at a time. Funds go to sponsor 
				local youth programs.

				Introduction to Square Dancing.  Lincoln Park District 
				presents an Introduction to Square Dancing at the Lincoln Rec 
				Center.  Class will begin at 7:00 PM, with free admission.  No 
				experience required, and our caller will have you dancing in 15

				Pancake and Sausage Breakfast.  The Lincoln Heritage Days 
				& Lincoln Fireworks Fundraiser Breakfast will be held on March 
				18 from 7:30 AM to Noon.  If you’re looking for a wonderful meal 
				of pancakes, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and fruit then come on 
				out to the American Legion Hall (1749 5th St., 
				Lincoln, IL) to enjoy!  A donation of $6 is required for each 
				meal (Children under 6 years old are free), and carryouts are 
				available.  There will also be a bake sale at the site.

				Ag Day Breakfast.  The Lincoln/Logan County Ag Day 2007 
				will be held at the Laughlin Center, Lincoln Christian College.

				Chihuahua Specialty Show.  
				The Land of Lincoln Chihuahua Club will be hosting their 2007 
				Specialty Show at the Laughlin Center (Lincoln Christian 
				College) on Saturday and Sunday, March 24 and 25.  If you’re

				Benefit for Doris Balch.  Doris is a cancer patient with 
				mounting medical bills that are affecting her everyday living 
				expenses.  If you could participate in this upcoming benefit it 
				would mean the world to this wonderful woman.  There is a 
				financial account set up for Doris at the State Bank of 
				Lincoln.  We’ll be having an auction, food, a 50/50 drawing, 
				bands, karaoke, and a bake sale.  If you’re interested in

				Annual Community Health Fair. 
				The 22nd 
				Annual Community Health Fair will be held 
				
				
				Saturday, March 31, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lincoln 
				Park District's Sports Center.  Admission is free.  Everyone is 
				invited to attend.   
				
				"Score Big with Good Health" is this year's edition of the 
				fair.  We'll have something for everyone featuring what's hot in 
				safety, health and fitness.  More than 70 organizations will 
				have displays and/or be offering health screenings.  Guests at 
				the fair will learn new and innovative approaches to wellness.  
				As part of this year's entertainment a game of Granny Basketball 
				will be played at 11 a.m. featuring the Iowa Phantoms versus the 
				Lincoln All-Stars.  Questions about the Health Fair should be 
				directed to Marcia Dowling at the Logan County Health Department

				Mystery Ink:  “The Farmer in the Well”.  How about a 
				Mystery in the Country?  The Rise and Shine Bed and Breakfast 
				invite guests to enjoy country life while solving a mystery.  
				Performers from the big city arrive to help as innkeeper Martha 
				Bates cooks up fine home cooking.  Before long guests may have 
				two mysteries to solve.  It’s the usual good fun from Mystery 
				Ink with a twist or two along the path to the well.  Friday & 
				Saturday the doors will open at 6:30 PM (show at 7:00 PM), and

				Carroll Catholic Alumni Basketball Game.

				Carroll Catholic Alumni!

				remember the old tile floor in Carroll’s gym?  The one that 
				everyone complained about?  Well, if you haven’t been to Carroll 
				School in awhile, you’ll be surprised to see a new wood floor 
				that is fantastic!  We thought it would be a great idea to get 
				some “old” Carroll ballplayers and their cheerleaders and lots 
				of their fans together to play on that new floor.  On Friday, 
				April 13, we will be hosting the first Alumni Game on the new 
				Carroll wood floor.  We are inviting any past graduates of 
				Carroll School to participate (we need lots of fans, too).  We 
				will play from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., followed by food and 
				refreshments at the Knights of Columbus Hall.  Even if you are 
				not up to the challenge of playing, we still need lots of fans

				“Route 66 Trail-Breaking” National Trails Day.  Be a part 
				of history on National Trails Day 2007.  Bicyclists and other 
				“trail-breakers” will traverse the entire 369 miles of Illinois’ 
				new Route 66 Trail, a route of quieter roads and trails showing 
				off the best of the old “Mother Road.”  The event will highlight 
				bike tourism on the Route 66 Trail while giving a boost for road 
				and trail improvements along the way.  How it Works:  Bicyclists 
				and other users will each ride one of the 13 legs of the Route 
				66 Trail, simultaneously covering the entire distance of the 
				route.  They will converge at six different Route 66 towns, 
				where ceremonies will be held at noon.  The segments from 
				Lincoln are Lincoln to Bloomington (46 Miles) or Lincoln to 
				Springfield (39 Miles).  Find out more about this event from the

				This historic celebration will be held in Middletown, Illinois 
				to celebrate the 175th Birthday of the city.  A

				enjoy the parade, Half Marathon foot race, Alumni reception, 
				Antique Car and Tractor Show, Historical Displays, Petting Zoo,

				book of lyric poems.  "The Weary Blues" expresses the strange 
				medley of emotions, memories, hopes and fears of his race in 
				modern America.  "One Way Ticket" includes a collection of poems 
				that he made since Shakespeare in Harlem. The internationally 
				known African - American Author, Langston Hughes (1902 - 1967) 
				wrote his first poem while attending Central School in Lincoln. 
				 In his autobiography, "The Big Sea" he stated that he wrote his 
				first poem while attending Central School in Lincoln, Illinois.
