[March 24, 2007]  Zion Lutheran School music students recently participated in the Logan County and Lutheran High-Springfield music contests. Participating with 46 entries, the students received 43 first-place awards and three second-place awards. The results from the two contests are listed below.

Logan County Solo/Ensemble Contest results

First-place instrumental solos: Fourth grade -- Emily Maaks, trumpet; Elizabeth Tripplett, trumpet; Andrew Wibben, snare drum. Fifth grade -- Desirae Albert, clarinet; Kathryn Arneaud, flute; Austin Leonard, trombone; Rachel Marlin, clarinet; Bradley Miller, tenor sax; Megan Opperman, alto sax. Seventh grade -- Morgan Conrady, clarinet; Kayla Huskins, clarinet; Zachary Leonard, trumpet; Matthew Schierer, alto sax. Eighth grade -- Aaron Klemm, trumpet; Bethany Last, flute; Josh Sager, snare drum.

First-place instrumental ensembles: Elizabeth Tripplett and Emily Maaks, trumpet duet; Desirae Albert and Rachel Marlin, clarinet duet; Justin Broom and Sam Opperman, trumpet duet; Megan Opperman and Sam Pegram, alto sax duet; Zachary Leonard and Aaron Klemm, trumpet duet; Lindsey Beccue, Morgan Conrady and Kayla Huskins, clarinet trio; Karli Cox, Matthew Schierer, Ben Rekart and Lindsey Beccue, woodwind quartet.

Second-place instrumental events: Karli Cox, alto sax solo; Alisa Whittaker, snare drum solo; Zack Hazel, Brent Hunsley and Trevor Arrington, snare drum trio.

First-place vocal events: Karli Cox, solo; Emily Harms, solo; Bethany Last, solo; Trevor Arrington, solo; Karli Cox and Trevor Arrington, duet; Emily Harms and Bethany Last, duet; Morgan Conrady, Lauren Stanfield and Erika White, trio.
