				Drive Thru Pork Chop Dinner.  Come on out to the Farm 
				Bureau, in Lincoln, to have a wonderful pork chop dinner.  The 
				United Way is setting up in their parking lot, from 4 PM – 7 PM 
				to serve delicious pork chops.  The dinner will be $6 per

				Foster 
				Grandparent Celebration.  
				The CIEDC Foster Grandparent Program celebrates 40 years at its 
				recognition dinner this year at the Maple Club in Lincoln. 
				Reservations Required. Foster Grandparents volunteer in 
				classrooms all over central Illinois. The program is open to

				Blood Drive.  Come give the gift of life at the Lincoln 
				Masonic Center (located at 2022 N. Kickapoo Street) from Noon 
				until 6:00pm.  This blood drive is sponsored by Immanuel 
				Lutheran Church in Lincoln.  All blood collected at this blood 
				drive supports Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

				Historic Building Walk.  Main Street Lincoln is 
				celebrating National Historic Preservation Month with a Historic 
				Building Walk in Downtown Lincoln.  On May 12th, 
				you’ll meet your guide at 11 AM at the entrance to the Arcade 
				Building (513 Pulaski St.), and check out the Arcade Building, 
				Sherwin Williams, Shay Parking Lot, and the Main Street Lincoln 
				building.  You’ll enjoy a fun, fact-filled walk featuring the 
				histories of James McCarthy’s Buildings.  The tour ends at 229 
				S. Kickapoo (Main Street Lincoln), where they’ll be having an 
				Open House with Refreshments.  The tour begins again on May 26th 
				at 6:30 PM. 
				May 12 
				YMCA Kids Day Event.  The Lincoln Area YMCA will host a 
				family fun event from 12:30 to 3:00 at the Y-Activity Center on 
				Wyatt Avenue.  Come enjoy kids games, contests, prize drawings, 
				sports fun, bake sale, chili cook off, and a special outdoor

				Young Eagles Day.  The Heritage In-Flight Museum will be 
				holding a Young Eagles Day at the Logan County Airport.  The EAA 
				Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested 
				young people, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to go flying in a 
				general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of 
				charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA

				Genealogical and Historical Society (114 N. Chicago St.,

				featuring "This Is My Story" Vol. 2 veteran's book.  The book 
				was published for the purpose of preserving the names and 
				military information about Logan County Veterans.  The book

				Lincoln Public Library District Summer Reading Program 2007
				Mission READ: to the Library and Beyond! Will begin 
				with a sign-up week May 29 – June 2.  During sign-p week a  
				“Library Astronaut Training” will be held.  Children will be 
				able to visit stations to “test” their outer-space abilities.  
				Stations will include “Moon Rocks,” “Manipulation,” “Control 
				Station,” and “Moon Walk.”  All astronauts will receive a 
				certificate of Completion in the “Library Astronaut School” and 
				get a picture taken in the “rocket.”  The entire Summer Reading

				“Route 66 Trail-Breaking” National Trails Day.  Be a part 
				of history on National Trails Day 2007.  Bicyclists and other 
				“trail-breakers” will traverse the entire 369 miles of Illinois’ 
				new Route 66 Trail, a route of quieter roads and trails showing 
				off the best of the old “Mother Road.”  The event will highlight 
				bike tourism on the Route 66 Trail while giving a boost for road 
				and trail improvements along the way.  How it Works:  Bicyclists 
				and other users will each ride one of the 13 legs of the Route 
				66 Trail, simultaneously covering the entire distance of the 
				route.  They will converge at six different Route 66 towns, 
				where ceremonies will be held at noon.  The segments from 
				Lincoln are Lincoln to Bloomington (46 Miles) or Lincoln to 
				Springfield (39 Miles).  Find out more about this event from the
