[May 29, 2007]  (AP) Forecasters predicted severe thunderstorms, rain or snow from the Rockies to the Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday, while the West Coast was expected to be clear and dry.

Showers and thunderstorms with the potential for tornados and large chunks of hail were expected in the Plains and Mississippi Valley.

Snow was expected in mountainous regions in the Four Corners. Scattered thunderstorms were likely from the Rockies to the northern Great Basin.

In the East, light rain was expected in the Mid-Atlantic, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in South Florida. The rest of the East was expected to be sunny and mild.

Much of the West was expected to be warm and sunny.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a low of 25 degrees at Doe Lake, Mich., to a high of 105 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
