[November 05, 2007]  (AP) Heavy rain was expected throughout the Appalachian Mountains and into northern New York Monday, with some of the heaviest rain hitting Pennsylvania.

The strengthening storm will bring a cold front into the Eastern interior, and parts of the Midwest are likely to experience strong winds that could bring blizzard conditions up to a foot of snow and blizzard conditions to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The West, meanwhile, will enjoy unseasonably warm temperatures and an end to clear skies for the coast. Fog will roll across beaches and move inland overnight in places.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 10 degrees at Alamosa, Colo., to a high of 95 degrees at Thermal, Calif.
