Hosts Annual Job Fair for Veterans

at 10 Sites to Help Vets Find Good Jobs in Their Communities

SPRINGFIELD -- In recognition of
Veterans Day, the Illinois Department of Employment Security will
host the annual Statewide Job Fair for Veterans on Thursday and
Friday. The fair brings together employers, veterans'
benefits-related agencies and service organizations to reach
veterans at 10 locations simultaneously throughout Illinois.

The state of Illinois, through IDES, took the initiative in November
2006 to host the nation's first-ever Statewide Veterans Job Fair.
The success of this event was so well received on the national level
by the U.S. Department of Labor that this year the federal
department implemented the "2007 National Hire Vets First Job
Fairs," requesting that each state conduct a Statewide Veterans Job
Fair during the month of November. Currently, IDES has 345 employers
registered for 10 job fair sites throughout Illinois. This
achievement has recently been recognized by the U.S. Department of
Labor as federal officials have announced that Illinois has
surpassed the number of veterans job fairs conducted by any other
state in the nation. Central
