[November 23, 2007]  (AP) Cold temperatures were forecast for the eastern part of the country Friday as a cold front moves off the coast, causing showers in the Southeast. The Mid-Atlantic and southern New England were expected to be dry, while snow showers were forecast for northern New England.

Low pressure was expected to sweep through the Southwest, bringing rain and high elevation snow to the southern Rockies and parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Winter storm warnings were issued for most of New Mexico.

The rest of the West was forecast to be dry.

The Northeast, Rockies, northern Plains and Great Lakes were expected to see temperatures in the 20s and 30s. The Southeast was forecast to rise into the 50s and 60s, while the Northwest was likely to see temperatures in the 30s, 40s and 50s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of minus 11 degrees at Bozeman, Mont., to a high of 84 degrees at Melbourne, Fla.
