[November 27, 2007]  (AP) Snow, sleet, and ice were forecast Tuesday for parts of the Appalachians, eastern Great Lakes and northern New England as a cold front pushes through the region. Accumulations of 4 to 8 inches were possible.

Temperatures were expected to drop into the teens and 20s across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest

In the South, scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected across the Florida Peninsula.

Rain and mountain snow were forecast for an expansive area from the Pacific Northwest to the High Plains. Heavy snow was likely over the Cascades, Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains, with new snowfall accumulations up to a foot in elevations above 3,000 feet.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a low of minus 3 degrees at Harlowton, Mont., to a high of 86 degrees at Fort Myers, Fla.
