About 4,000 gas valves for decorative fireplaces and stoves, manufactured in Mexico by Honeywell International Inc., because the activation knob can be left between off and pilot, allowing gas to leak. This poses a risk of thermal burns when the pilot is lighted. The company has received one report of gas accumulating in this manner and singeing the hair on the back of a person's hand. Quong Hop & Co. of South San Francisco, Calif., is for the third time expanding its recall of tofu products, this time to include three new items and to expand the recall of most of the previously announced products to include a late November or late January shelf-life date.
The products might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria is a microorganism that can cause serious or fatal infections in children, the elderly or those with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported in connection with any of the recalled products, Quong Hop said.

The company on Tuesday recalled the following products with a Jan. 28, 2008, or earlier date code: five flavors of the 8-ounce Soy Deli Organic Baked Tofu; the 8-ounce Soy Deli Mesquite
All-Natural Smoked Tofu; the 8-ounce Soy Deli Hawaiian Style All-Natural Fried Tofu; the 8- and 12-ounce Soy Deli Firm Organic Nigari Tofu vacuum-packed; five flavors of the 6-ounce Soy Deli All-Natural Tofu Burgers.
It also recalled these products with a Nov. 28, 2007, or earlier date code: the 12-ounce Soy Deli Firm Organic Gourmet Rich Calcium Tofu,
water-packed; the 12-ounce Soy Deli Soft Organic Gourmet Rich Calcium Tofu,
water-packed; the 12-ounce Soy Deli Firm Organic Nigari Tofu,
water-packed; the 16-ounce Quong Hop Organic Nigari Tofu firm-style nonpasteurized,
water-packed; the 30-ounce Soy Deli Firm Organic Nigari Tofu, vacuum-packed; four Soy Deli bulk products and the Nigari Firm Tofu 54 PC product.
In previous recalls of these products, some had earlier recall date codes.
The company also recalled for the first time Tuesday three Soy Deli Soy Lower Carb pastas, including the ravioli, tortellini and manicotti, with the date code Nov. 28, 2007, or earlier.
The products were distributed throughout the Midwest and the West Coast in supermarkets and natural food stores, the company said.
Healthy adults who are infected with listeria can experience symptoms including high fever, severe headache, nausea and diarrhea. For more information, consumers can call the company at 650-553-9900.
