Logan County 4-H members show
champions at state fair

CHAMPAIGN -- Five Logan County 4-H members had
success showing champion or reserve champion animals at the Illinois
State Fair Junior Department livestock shows, according to
information recently released by the state 4-H office.

In the Beef Division, Chase Aylesworth of Mount Pulaski showed the
Division 6 reserve champion and Samantha Lowman of Lincoln showed
the Division 8 reserve champion. In the Swine Division, Ellen Olson
of Elkhart showed the Division 3 champion. Finally, in the Dairy
Goat Division, Cameron Jodlwoski of Atlanta exhibited a champion
animal and Evan Jodlowski of Atlanta exhibited a reserve champion
animal. Nationally, 4-H is the largest out-of-school educational
program for youth. The 4-H program seeks to assist youth in
acquiring knowledge, forming attitudes and developing life skills
that will enable them to become caring, competent and contributing
members of society. In Illinois, 281,462 youth participate in 4-H
and the other youth programs of University of Illinois Extension.
More than 25,300 youth and adult volunteers assist in the
