SPRINGFIELD -- State Sen. Bill Brady,
R-Bloomington, has been honored as a "Friend of Fairness" by the
Illinois Civil Justice League for his voting record on civil justice
issues. He is one of just 10 Illinois senators to receive the
recognition.

"Our civil justice system is intended to serve the best
interests of all our citizens, but there are those unscrupulous
persons who would exploit and abuse the system for their own gain
and profit," Brady said. "We must protect our legal system and
ensure that it continues to work for the greater good." The
league's midsession scorecard reflects the floor and committee votes
of the House and Senate, as well as sponsorships of bills that are
important to the Illinois civil justice reform effort.
"It is important that Illinois voters know where their
legislators stand on issues relating to the reform of our state's
troubled legal system," said Edward Murnane, league president. "For
too long, the personal injury trial lawyers have held too much clout
in Springfield, advancing their stealth agenda of increasing their
profits at the expense of hardworking Illinois citizens. This
scorecard enables the average voter to know if his or her legislator
stands with them -- or with the trial lawyers."
Established in 1992, the Illinois
Civil Justice League is a coalition of citizens, small and large
businesses, associations, professional societies, not-for-profit
organizations, and local governments that have joined together to
work for fairness in the Illinois civil justice system.
