The woman was described as a white female, 45 years old from
Springfield. She was driving a teal 1992 Chevrolet Coupe.
The accident occurred about two miles southwest of Chestnut on
Route 54 westbound and 2000th Avenue at 4:45 p.m.
The vehicle first went off the right side of the roadway into the
gravel shoulder. The driver overcorrected back to the left, crossing
over both lanes of traffic, and traveled into the ditch on the left
side of the roadway. The vehicle continued traveling through the
ditch, where it began rolling over several times before coming to
rest in an open field.
An Air Evac helicopter flew the driver to Memorial Medical
Center, where she was listed in critical condition.
