[April 24, 2008]
At 11:45 a.m., radar indicated a
band of steady rain slowly moving eastward into west-central
Illinois. Meanwhile, scattered showers and thunderstorms were
erupting across counties close to the Illinois River valley. These
storms will spread to the northeast through 1 p.m., being replaced
by the steadier rains moving in from the west. A few of these storms
have produced small hail across Peoria County. Small hail will
continue to be a threat, along with dangerous cloud-to-ground
lightning. Additional thunderstorm development will be possible
between noon and 1 p.m. east of the Illinois River valley, from
Interstate 55 southeast to the I-72 corridor.
Periods of showers and thunderstorms will be mainly after 2 p.m.
