[April 29, 2008]  BOSTON (AP) -- Police trying to find a vandal who ransacked a church didn't have to go far in their search. They arrested a man found napping inside before Sunday morning services.

Officers called to Most Precious Blood Church in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood around 8 a.m. found a broken stained-glass window, chalices thrown about, missing Oriental rugs and an open safe.

Witnesses led officers downstairs, where a man was napping.

Police allege 47-year-old Charles Martin of West Roxbury resisted arrest and kicked an officer in the groin.

A search of Martin allegedly turned up a gold spoon with religious symbols, two knives, a sword, and prescription pills.

He was arrested on multiple counts.
