[February 01, 2008]  MESQUITE, Texas (AP) -- A woman who told police she had been stunned with a "cattle prod" by a man impersonating a police officer made up the incident, officials said Thursday.

Shelby Lee Knight-Lacey told investigators "she had been arguing with her husband about money and made up the whole story to get sympathy," Mesquite police said in a news release.

Knight-Lacey originally told police a man driving a white sedan with flashing red and blue lights on the dashboard pulled her over Wednesday afternoon. She told police he was wearing a blue uniform with no patches or badges.

Knight-Lacey told investigators she became suspicious and began rolling up her window when he ordered her out of the car without explaining what she had done. She said the man then reached through the window and stunned her with cattle prod.

Investigators, however, reviewed security cameras in the area where she said she was attacked. The video showed her story was untrue, police said.

Investigators are preparing a false report case against Knight-Lacey, police said in a story posted Thursday on The Dallas Morning News' Web site.

Knight-Lacey declined to comment Thursday when reached by telephone by The Associated Press.
