[February 04, 2008]  Alexis Leesman, administrative assistant and quality coordinator, has been honored by her peers as Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital's January Employee of the Month.

This Lincoln native earned her bachelor's degree in business from Eastern Illinois University with a major in management and a minor in French.

In March 2004, she began working at ALMH in both nursing administration and medical records. Later that year, she transferred to administration as an administrative assistant. Recently, she was promoted to administrative assistant and quality coordinator.

Leesman typically works on multiple projects at a time. She manages and tracks update activities for approximately 1,600 ALMH policies, prepares and organizes information for various committee meetings, updates forms and control charts, generates reports, and much more.

Her co-workers say: "Alexis handles an overwhelming amount of paperwork in a calm, professional, accurate manner without complaint, making the job of others much easier. Her work touches every department in ALMH through a variety of tasks every day. She is one of the 'unsung heroes' of ALMH."

When asked why she enjoys working at ALMH, Alexis commented: "ALMH truly recognizes a job well done, and not all employers do that. It makes you feel better about the job you do. I am also not pigeonholed into one job, which is great. I have been given the opportunity to showcase my talents, creativity and capabilities by wearing different hats in my job." She then added, "It is wonderful to work with nice, talented people that help make ALMH a great place to work."

ALMH employs more than 250 in a wide variety of job functions. A different employee is honored each month for their commitment to creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making ALMH a great place to work.
