[February 09, 2008]  (AP) Snow and rain showers were scattered across the country on Friday, a calm end to a week of severe weather that included deadly tornadoes in the South and heavy snow in the North.

Scattered showers dropped several inches of snow across Utah and Colorado, changing to a mix of rain and snow in Kansas. Isolated snow showers moved across the Upper Mississippi Valley and parts of the Great Lakes.

The Northeast saw a range of temperatures from the 10s to the 40s, while the Southeast saw temperatures in the 60s and 70s. The Southern Plains was quite warm as temperatures rose into the 80s, while the Upper Midwest saw chilly temperatures in the 10s and 20s. The Northwest rose into the 40s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a morning low of -14 degrees at Presque Isle, Maine, to a midday high of 89 degrees at Hebbronville, Texas.
